Unleash Your Feminine Powers

It is truly heartwarming to see how the feminine is rising and how far we, as women, have come. From being discriminated from politics and sports events, living lives without rights or the ability to own and flourish our power. Here we are today, with women making history, gaining equal salaries and rights, being elected to lead countries, excelling in the sports industries and also in the corporate world.

One particular commercial called 'Dream Crazier' highlighting the women's' greatness comes to mind. Pointing out that for showing emotions women are considered dramatic, for playing against men women are seen as nuts, dreaming of equal- opportunities - delusional, when women get angry they are seen are irrational or crazy. But once, a woman running a marathon was crazy, right? So let's show the world what 'crazy' can do.

You Are an Energy Body

Women already have an enormously powerful aura. According to Kundalini Yoga, women’s auras are 16 (!!!) times bigger and more powerful than a man’s! Being able to recognize this, pursue our dreams and turn pain into power is probably the greatest gift, we as women have (other than being able to grow and give life, of course).

Yoga and bodywork can be a great way in establishing the initial connection. Certain yogic practices such as Kundalini, mula bandha and meditation can help in opening up our core and unleashing our creativity and sexual energy. These are tightly connected to our Root Chakra - Muldhara, where the awakening and releasing of the feminine creative force (Kundalini Shakti) governs. Trying such practices, women can learn to control and gather their power and creativity in order to use it efficiently.

Other ways to reconnect to your feminine or kundalini energy is by walking barefoot on grass or sand, walk outdoors, go hiking, sit/lay in the grass, practicing presence — being here and now. Foods such as root vegetables (beets, garlic, ginger, turnips, potatoes, and parsnips), Omega-3 fatty foods (avocados, vegetable oils), chickpeas and red fruits (strawberries, cherries) can also help with this balancing and reconnection.

Are you an affirmation fan? Here are a few can try:

I love being in my body

I am centered and grounded

I am able to let go of fear

I know I am eternally safe

You Are Having a Full Moon

Our menstrual cycles are precious and should be seen as something sacred. During this time, when we are said to be 'with the moon' is when we are filled with radiance. In a way, our cycles are our very own personal full moon time (how cool is that?!).

During this time we become amazingly more sensitive, easily irritated and aware of any imbalances within our bodies.

On the spiritual level, we also tend to feel and experience the pain and suffering of the women of the past. All of these imbalances can manifest themselves as cramps, fatigue or headache. No, nothing is wrong with you, it's only your body recognizing information that you are usually unaware of.

Finding Balance

Throughout our period, our body's energy begins to flow downward, releasing life and toxins from the body. This is why inversions, for instance, during yoga practice should be avoided. It’s a counterproductive action to the body’s natural flow.

Since the uterus walls contract slightly in order to loosen blood flow, we may experience cramps. Too much of a certain hormone, and boom... cramps factory is on (you feel me, huh?).

Cramps, backaches, breast tenderness, and headaches prior to your cycle can, for example, be linked to prostaglandin production and imbalance. Some women may experience these symptoms for 2 weeks before the menstruation – that equals up to about half of their lives! Prostaglandins (hormone-like chemicals) received from fatty acids helps by promoting smooth muscle contraction and blood vessel dilation. This makes it essential for a smooth menstrual cycle and a way to achieve balance.

Eat Your Cramps Away

Two weeks before your period is supposed to arrive, try to include foods high in essential Omega-3 fatty acids:

  • flaxseed oil
  • walnuts
  • hemp seeds
  • soybeans
  • dark green leafy vegetables (kale and chard)

With all this information in mind, approach your cycle this month differently and honor its sacredness. Choose love, balance, and understanding.
